A message from our Chief Commissioner, Jan Turbill, to our Leaders and supporters.
Jan Turbill gives a great Scouts SA message of support and encouragement on how we will be a stronger organisation on the other side of COVID-19.

Scouts SA moves to Scouting From Home from midnight 25 March 2020
The Australian Government’s response to COVID-19 is escalating rapidly, as is the requirement of the Australian community to respond. It is obvious that the overall intent is to restrict gatherings to the absolute minimum to slow the spread.
Since our communication of 4:25pm Tuesday 24th March, the Prime Minister announced last night further restrictions to non-essential gatherings, reducing the number of people to a maximum of 5-10 depending on the gathering. This new requirement is to commence as at midnight tonight (25th March).
Scouts SA now directs that the concept of “SCOUTING FROM HOME” be implemented from midnight tonight. That is, from 2400hr 25 MARCH 2020. This means that all ‘Face-to-Face’ Scout Activities must cease from midnight. Nationally, and at Branch level our senior Scouters have been developing hundreds of on-line and home activities to keep our engagement with youth members, parents and leaders. These will be rolled out (through our structure) very soon.
The Branch HQ is still open to support you and perform many other critical functions during these uncertain times.
Please contact us at email@example.com or continue to visit us at the HQ after making an appointment.
Otherwise, you can still call us on 08 8130 6000 or Free call 1800SCOUTS.
WOODHOUSE, our SCOUT OUTDOOR CENTRE and the SCOUT RECYCLING DEPOTS will all remain open at this stage, and as much as you can (and it is safe to do so) please support our businesses during this difficult time.
We will be issuing the initial round of tools and details of our SCOUTING FROM HOME program to all Scout GROUPS and SECTIONS in the next few days – hopefully our youth members will have the opportunity to trial some of these over the coming weekend.
The best and perhaps most important thing you can do to support Scouting in South Australia, is to keep communicating with your youth members; leaders and parents to let them know that Scouting will continue as an exciting home-based activity and that we will survive with their continued patronage and moral support.
So for now, it’s “SCOUTING FROM HOME” … from midnight tonight.
