Australia Day honours

Reg Williams AM RFD

 

Scouts SA congratulates Mr Reg Williams AM RFD on being recognised for his significant service to youth through Scouting at the local and national level, to historical organisations and to the community, in the 2016 Australia Day awards.

Reg's service to Scouting includes

  • Chief Commissioner Scouts Australia 2009 to 2015 and recipient of the Silver Kangaroo (2013)
  • Chief Commissioner Scouts Australia (SA) 2000 to 20016 and President from 2006 to 2009
  • Member, Management Sub Committee, Asia-Pacific Region, World Organisation of the Scouting movement (current)

In addition Reg has undertaken significant community service including

  • Councillor, District Council of Kadina (now part of the District Council of the Copper Coast) - 1971 to 1984
  • President, Kernewk Lowender Copper Coast Cornish Festival - 1986 to 1989, Vice President 1974 to 1986
  • Board Member, Australia Day Council of South Australia, 8 years and Vice-President, 2 terms.
  • President, South Australian Mounted Rifles Association, current.
  • Honorary Colonel, 3rd/9th Light Horse (South Australian Mounted Rifles), 2000 to 2005.
  • Member, Australian Army Reserve, 1965 to 1998.

 

Reg has recently been appointed the Chief Director of AJ2019, the 25th Australian Jamboree to be hosted by Scouts SA.

SA Branch is very proud to congratulate Mr Williams for this Australian recognition of his great service to the community and in particular to Scouting in South Australia.
