Uniform

 

The uniform described below is that approved Nationally and will be worn by all Scouts and Scouters [incl. Commissioners and those holding non-warranted and honorary ranks], both in Australia and when representing the Association outside Australia.


Youth Member

The core uniform is a dark blue shirt with the relevant Youth section colour [see below] across the sleeves, yolk and collar; a blue belt and a scarf and woggle.

The following colours are of each section:

  • Tan for Joey Scouts

  • Yellow for Cub Scouts

  • Green for Scouts

  • Maroon for Venturer Scouts 

  • Red for Rover Scouts 

These colours are the official ‘colours’ for each youth section of Scouts Australia and appear on badges, publication and clothing for the section.

Adult Member Shirt design
The colour for the Adult Member is:

  • Dark blue shirt

Belt  - For both Youth & Adult Members
A Blue corded belt with a buckle incorporating the Scout Logo.

Sea Scouts may wear a White belt

Scarf  (worn with a Woggle) for both Youth & Adult Members
Of Group, District, Branch or State design and as approved by the Branch Chief Commissioner.

Timeframe
The new uniform will be phased in over a five – year period from November 2004.   Members can change over when the time comes for a new uniform, if they don’t want to change immediately.

Trousers -  For both Youth & Adult Members
On Official Branch occasions where formal wear is declared [e.g. ANZAC day march, Act of Loyalty] or National activities, all SA Branch participants are to wear the nominated colour trousers/skirt/shorts STONE/BONE COLOUR.

If the District Commissioner declares formal occasion for their District, participants are to wear the nominated colour trousers/skirt/shorts STONE/BONE COLOUR.

Other formal occasions Adult members can wear NAVY BLUE or STONE/BONE COLOUR trousers / skirt / shorts

For informal occasions, section meetings/camps or other activities, - individuals’ choice provided trousers are a single colour, in good repair.  Track suit pant are NOT ACCEPTABLE uniform wear.

Hat  -  For both Youth & Adult Members
SA Branch has a ‘SunSafe’ Policy therefore all Members are required to     wear an appropriately fitted hat for outside, the following approved hat is:

Informal occasion: Wide brimmed hat any colour.

Formal occasions: Navy Blue only.

Shoes
Leather/Dress shoes are to be worn on ceremonial and formal occasions.  Runner’s are acceptable for most Scouting activities.

NOTE * Sandals ARE NOT TO BE WORN at any time

Badges
National and Branch approved badges are to be worn only, please see Badge Placement sheet.

NOTE: When designing or reordering District, Group or Activity badges we now have a size limit.

National Policy is for Event Badges not to be worn of the uniform
