Scout Social and Service Group

The Scout Social and Service Group is exactly what it sounds! The SSS is a great way to continue in your Scouting life and be part of a great group of like minded people and contribute to your community through Scouts.

The "SSS" or "Triple S" is a group of people who give current,or have given past service to Scouts through leadership roles, committee member roles or are partners of members who wish to get together as a social group and still maintain service to Scouting through a range of activities.

Social activities include meetings and luncheons (with / without guest speakers), dinners, camps and outings to places of interest.

Service activities include physical work as well as activities for those not so active members. We welcome suggestions from our members to undertake new activities that they feel we could support, particularly those that have direct impact on the young people involved within Scouting.

For those less mobile we have regular duties at the Scout Archives and compiling the postouts every month at HQ. When requested, we cater for Section BBQ’s and morning /afternoon teas.

More physical activities include working at Woodhouse maintaining the Old House garden, growing / planting seedlings around the property, restoring / maintaining heritage items and any other identified task requested by the Woodhouse Volunteer Coordinator. In addition there is maintenance at Scout Campsites such as Roonka.

We conduct occasional fundraising activities and are happy to consider requests from Scouting Sections to support them

Many activities are conducted during weekdays and part time workers or people who run their own businesses are welcome to join in. Most of the members are not current leaders, but this is not a requirement of membership. If they have the time available, current  leaders are also welcome and help keep us in contact with what is happening.

For more information or membership enquiries please contact the Secretary Norma Keily on 8536 6276 or email sss@sa.scouts.com.au
