The Adventure Begins

Re-engage and re-embed elements of Scouting

We challenge your section to re-embed key elements of Scouting into your program. It’s time for us to rejuvenate the way Scouting is delivered and prepare for the implementation of our new program from 2019.

You can continue working on The Adventure Begins throughout 2019!

The Adventure Begins is a way to reengage and ensure programs’ are true to Scouting’s core values.

The Adventure Begin focuses on the following elements of the Scouts Australia Youth Program: The Principles, Purpose and Mission of Scouting, The SPICES and Educational Objectives, The Scout Method (with emphasis on: Youth Leading, Adults Supporting; Community Involvement and Promise and Law), Section Councils, Plan>Do>Review>

The Adventure Begins is a section based challenge, for all sections. For each element there is a series of targets to achieve, with the Section Council responsible for the sections progress.

Each Scout Group has been sent two information packs with this information. One in early February that contains posters, printed resources, checklists and a white scarf ring. The second contains your groups resources to help with The Adventure Begins – Plan Do Review balls and SPICES cards.

Scouts SA is covering the cost of the following resources for all Groups.

  • Scarf ring packs (apply below)
  • Plan>Do>Review> thumb ball
  • SPICES cards

Additional resources may be purchased from the Scout Outdoor Centre if your section requires them.
