Woodhouse 2020

A Vision for the future

Almost everyone in the scouting community has an opinion about Woodhouse. There is no doubt that the Woodhouse facility is a significant asset for everyone that has an interest in scouting and many of us have very fond memories of using Woodhouse as a youth.

In 2015 the Branch Executive Committee commissioned a survey into the future of Woodhouse with feedback sought from Scouting members. The findings of this survey work is available here.

Woodhouse 2020 Vision

That Woodhouse is recognised by both the ‘Scouting’ and the South Australian communities as a highly developed ‘centre of excellence’ for youth programs. This will be achieved by delivering best practice camping and youth activity opportunities for all users of the property.

In particular, Woodhouse will:

  • continue to be self-sustaining with new financial modeling.
  • be particularly focused in facilitating ‘excellence’ in the delivery of the Scout Program.
  • Embrace opportunity for staff and volunteers to work together to develop and maintain the property to the highest standard.

Woodhouse 2020 Updates

This page is designed to keep key stakeholders up to date with the latest progress on the Woodhouse 2020 project.

The Woodhouse 2020 Committee

At the September meeting of the BEC the proposed Woodhouse 2020 Vision and Strategies were discussed and approved.  At this meeting the Woodhouse 2020 committee structure was also approved. Importantly  the committee will be led by the BEC ensuring the appropriate level of importance is placed on recommendations coming from the committee.  The committee will be a sub-committee of the BEC and comprise of two BEC members and others with marketing, financial and facilities expertise.

Initially the committee will comprise of Jan Turbill, Mark Percy, Wayne Vilanova, Rob Unger, Andrew McCauley and Paul Dickson APM as Chair.  We held our first meeting on Wednesday 30th September 2015 where we discussed and agreed to develop as a priority a Strategic Plan, actions to support the completion of the documented strategies and a paper on the financials of Woodhouse.  It is believed that this information is required to inform the committee on the development of further actions.  It is hoped that these specific tasks will be completed by our next meeting to be held in late October.

In the near future there will be a number of opportunities for scouting members to become actively involved in some of the exciting strategies being developed to further enhance Woodhouse.  Your ideas and energy is a valuable resource for all of us.  I intend on using this communication medium to inform everyone on a monthly basis of the latest happenings at Woodhouse.

Chair - Woodhouse 2020 Committee
